‘Unusual Risks Launch New “Co-Risk” Life Insurance Service For HIV Community’  …

Our friends at Unusual Risks, the Specialist Life Insurance Advisers to the HIV Community, are today announcing the introduction of their “Co-Risk” Life Insurance service for people who would have previously been deemed uninsurable by the Life Insurance Industry. Even if people have been declined in the past, they are welcome to contact us about the new products that are now available.

Over the last two years we have been working with Life Insurance Companies to create more accessible products for people living with HIV, specifically for those who have been diagnosed with other “Co-Risk” medical conditions – such as HIV with Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Diabetes Type 1, Diabetes Type 2, Syphilis and Tuberculosis – plus a host of other medical conditions.

Speaking about “Co-Risk” Life Insurance, Chris Morgan, Lead Financial Adviser of Unusual Risks said …

“There are a significant number of people living with HIV that have been declined by UK Life Insurance Companies over the last two decades – that we are now able to insurer. We have successfully been securing Life Insurance cover for many groups of people that have been turned away by the insurance industry in the past”.

Chris Continued …

“Many applicants would have been declined for cover, without any reasonable explanation from the companies involved. Which caused significant anxiety and stress, particularly if they were applying for mortgages whilst buying a property or new home. We have been working hard to ensure that these people are no longer excluded by the insurance industry”.

Chris Morgan and Unusual Risks have campaigned on behalf of the HIV Community for over two decades, firstly for the introduction of HIV Life Assurance, followed by the lengthening of policy terms and then, most recently, he reduction of monthly premiums. Their most recent success is securing “Co-Risk” Life Insurance terms for people living with HIV, who also have other significant medical conditions such as Hepatitis, Diabetes, Syphilis and Tuberculosis.

Unusual Risks are very proud to have played the lead role in improving the accessibility of financial products for people with HIV over the last fourteen years and will continue to work on behalf of the community to secure better products. They are now able to guarantee all people living with HIV between the ages of 18 and 64, access to some form of Life Insurance.

HIV LIFE INSURANCE & MULTIPLE MEDICAL CONDITIONS (Co-Risk Life Insurance)

HIV & MEDICAL CONDITIONS (Co-Risk Life Insurance)

“Things Have Changed – Part Nine” … Commentary by Chris Morgan

What to do if your declined for Life Insurance and have multiple medical conditions?

Many people will be aware that I’ve been consulting with the Life Insurance Industry regarding HIV related matters since 2005. During this last 17 years, I’ve witnessed literally thousands of applications for Life Insurance that have been declined, postponed or accepted with amended terms.

Many of these applications were declined because the person had multiple medical conditions on their file, which meant they were considered too high risk for Life Insurance. Unusual Risks are aware of significant number of people who were declined in the past due to their diagnosis of HIV combined with conditions such as Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Diabetes Type 1, Diabetes Type 2, Syphilis or Tuberculosis.

For the last two decades I have been leading a campaign to achieve equality for people living with HIV when they apply for Life Insurance. Finally, we are now able to offer Life Insurance for people with Co-Risk Medical conditions – even if you have multiple medical conditions or have been declined elsewhere before, be sure to try again with us.

HIV LIFE INSURANCE & HIV LIFE ASSURANCE – MEDICAL CONDITIONS

HIV & MEDICAL CONDITIONS (Co-Risk Life Insurance)

“Things Have Changed – Part Eight” … Commentary by Chris Morgan

What to do if your declined for Life Insurance and your insurer does not explain their decision?

Many people will be aware that I’ve been consulting with the Life Insurance Industry regarding HIV related matters since 2005. During this last 17 years, I’ve witnessed literally thousands of applications for Life Insurance that have been declined, postponed or accepted with amended terms.

For most of these applications the insurers gave no reasons to the applicant for their actions and decisions and in so many of these cases they caused the applicant stress, anxiety and even depression. This was particularly the case for those people who were taking out mortgages, or were trying to protect their families and loved ones.

For the last two decades I have been leading a campaign to achieve Equality for people living with HIV when they apply for Life Insurance. I’m aware that 56% of people living with HIV, who apply directly for their Life Insurance through Banks, Building Society’s or Mainstream financial advisers, are still declined without any reasonable explanation.

HIV LIFE INSURANCE & HIV LIFE ASSURANCE – HIV & HEPATITIS B

HIV & Hepatitis B

What if I was declined for Life Insurance cover years ago because of HIV & Hepatitis B?

“Things Have Changed – Part Seven” … Commentary by Chris Morgan

Over the last two decades the group of people that have been declined for Life Insurance, more than any group of people – have been those living with both HIV and Hepatitis. When HIV Life Insurance came to market in 2009, this was one group that continued to be specifically excluded by the Insurance Industry.

Even to this day I still have no reasonable explanation as to why this is the case – fast forward to September 2022 and I’m able announce that things have changed. Most of my time in lockdown throughout the pandemic, I spent talking to Life Insurers and Re-Insurers in an effort to find an answer to this problem.

We are are now getting Life Insurance terms for people living with HIV and Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C, along with a host of other medical conditions. This is great news because even if people have been declined for cover in the past, we can now get Life Insurance terms to protect their mortgages and families.
